Life: I love to read, and I told myself that I would pick that back up once I was done with graduate school. I have about 10 books to read on my bookshelf! I have also thought of starting some sort of book club; whether here in ND, or a virtual one in blogland. I also love to paint. I haven't really done much since highschool and I would like to get back into that. I prefer to do landscapes, farms, etc. As long as I have a pic to refer to, I am willing to attempt it. I would also love to do some more traveling... and I hope a race or two might require me to do so!
Health: I want to do the following 3 things - Eat better. Sleep better. Take my vitamins... everyday. Plain and simple.
Fitness: I have many races I am looking at for 2008 and will probably not decide on until later. I want to try a few different races and distances, as I have only done 5K's in the past. Here's a few of the races I am looking at in 2008:
- Fargo Half Marathon - 5.17.08
- Bismarck Sprint Triathlon - 6.08.08
- Prairie Rose State Games 10K - 7.15.08
- Twin Cities 10-miler - 10.05.08
- Danskin Triathlon
- UND Homecoming Race - Grand Forks, ND (end of Sept./early Oct)
- Homerun 10K - Fargo, ND
- 5K (or 10K) Turkey Trot - Bismarck, ND (Thanksgiving Day)
- 5K Jingle Bell Run - Fargo, ND (First weekend in Dec.)
- Zoo Year's Eve 5K - Bismarck, ND (Last Sunday in December)
If my first half marathon goes well, I would like to attempt one in August/September out of state. I have a few ideas, but I am always open for more ...
In training for my first real triathlon, I would like to take the time to really improve my endurance in swimming. With my running, I am not looking to improve speed. Instead, I want to be able to build my mileage, slowly, and without injuring myself. I have been looking over the Jeff Galloway plan and have heard such good things about it.
Happy New Year's, y'all! :)

Great goals!! I'm going to work on mine soon.
Nice goals! If you do the TC 10 miler, make sure to let me know. I'll probably be there cheering!!
Happy 2008!!
Great goals for 2008! Ease back into all those things you want to do now that you are in the working class :-) Important thing is to have fun doing whatever you choose to do!! Have a great 2008!!
Definitely come for Twin Cities 10 mile!! I'm doing the full and I have a LOT of people from out of town that I know from blogs or online groups and there is going to be a big bash! Heck, sometime when you're just in town we should meet up for a run or something!
Oh that all sounds like a great set of goals. I should be doing the same I guess! So thanks for the kick up the butt too!!! :o)
Happy New Year
Those are some great goals! I'm up for a blogland book club - I read constantly and am always looking for new ideas!
P.S. How do you do those really nice tables? I'm jealous.
It feels pretty good to set up goals doesn't it? I had a sense of accomplishment just by putting mine in blogland.
I'm sure that you'll achieve all you set!
Go for it!
Love the goals, and the blog look!
Count me in if you start a virtual book club!
The goals look great - you're gonna be busy!
I love your goals - glad you included your life goals. I used to paint; it's neat that you have that in there as something you might want to do more.
I also like the going farther vs. going faster. That was my goal in 2007. :)
Anyway, I hope that 2008 bring you everything you wish for...and more!
I love the virtual book club idea - especially with a group of like-minded folk ... assuming we are of like minds for we read one another's blogs :)
I was in a book club for a couple of years (in fact I was one of the founding members) but finally dropped out a few months ago. As the group grew, it evolved and there was a lack of actual reading! It became more of a social thing and this frustrated me. Particularly when we had agreed to read Bowerman and the Men of Oregon and then I was the only one to actually read it! Anyway... I'm totally in! :)
btw - thanks for the great tips on ND/SD. I definitely plan to visit someday - I just don't know when. :)
Ooohh Oohhh I vote for the book club!! Great idea!! Love your goals!
I used Galloway successfully for my first year of running. Loved it!
Looks like some good races for '08!
Great goals. I wish you all the best in 2008.
Those are some great goals and I'm sure you'll have no problem achieving them. I like the reading one and would love to join your blogland book club but put "maybe" on the survey b/c I wasn't sure how often you'd be switching books...

Great goals for 2008! And I love books, so a book club could be tempting.
Great goals!!!
There is the windward Half in Kailua, HI in September! :)
That is the one that I am planning to do!
Great way to start off 08! I like the reading one -I wish I had more time for that!
by the way, let me know if you decide to organize that book club!
Great goals!
