Three Things Thursday

  1. With a storm day Monday and taking a sick day Tuesday, I only have to work 2 days this week - yesterday and today. After my last block with students today, I am heading home to Bismarck for the weekend. I have a CEC (Council for Exceptional Children) Conference that starts tonight, all day tomorrow, and 6 hours on Saturday. It's going to be a long couple of days, but will be a nice break from work, I think. An addition, I earn credit for this.
  2. I got home from work early enough yesterday to catch Oprah. This doesn't happen that often. Micheal Pollan was on there talking about mass production and clean eating and such. After watching a half hour of that, I am SERIOUSLY thinking about really changing my diet. I was disgusted by some of the things I learned....but I think that's all for another post... Alicia Silverstone was also on there plugging her book, The Kind Diet. I might look into reading that one.
  3. Asside from weather, work, and working out.. I would really like to make some updates to this blog. I love the idea of adding tabs but have no idea what I am doing. Can any one lead me in the right direction?

Have fun @ your conference.

As for the blog, I'm not entirely sure. I know how I did it for Michael's blog so he could have an FAQ section etc...

I typed in a post like normal on FAQ and in the "Options" section of that individual post, I chose a date super early, so it became the very first post on the blog. That way, no one actually saw it. If you use the website I use for layouts, they all come with the tab row at the top that you can edit just like you edit your sidebar. The FAQ tab simply references the post of FAQ.

Make sense?

Email me if you need more help but honestly, I don't know if this was the easiest/best way to do it even.

Hi Teacherwoman,
You are originally from Bismarck! That is sort of close to me...do you ever do any races in Minnesota?

I wish I could help you with the tab thing...I suck at computers and have only been blogging for about eight weeks. I will however come back and read the other comments people leave you because I would like to know that myself:)

Have an awesome day Teacherwoman!!

i've heard good things about the alecia silverstone book. you also might want to watch Food, Inc. that will really drive the point home about diet.

i'm also changing my diet up again. i'm going more vegetarian now, like 3-4 days a week at first. but i really like it.

i wish i could help you with the tabs, but that seems to be a wordpress thing. i don't know how to make blogspot templates do that. and if I (as a software developer) don't know or have the time to figure it out, then you've got a real challenge on your hands.

I received "The Kind Diet" for Xmas. I didn't want to like the book since I am suspicious of any celebrity peddling their viewpoints, but the book is really really good. There are some hokey parts to it, but on the whole it makes switching to a cleaner, vegan/veggie diet seem easy and there is no finger pointing or condemnation for those who struggle to eat right.

When I rule the world, every work week will be only two days long!

I am thinking of adding tabs to mine too!! I googled blogger tab templates and found a few to use, it would mean changing the entire look of the blog, but I LOVE the tab look, worth it. I don't think there is a way to do it without changing the current (nontab) template. I will look more and let you know. That is the ONLY thing I would change! ;)

Try Artisteer for a custom look on your blog. I purchased it and am still playing with it, trying to get it to work on my blog. It is tougher than it looks!

I had Leslie from lambertslately.com do my tabs for me.
Yay for a short work week. I could use a sick day haha

And with the options...I'm right there with you. Still figuring it all out. But yours looks good so far!

I am jealous that you are going to the conference. I am a special education teacher as well.

Just stopped by your blog. Consider me a new fan.

I totally want to make some changes to my blog too but I am so not tech savvy. Please share anything you find out.

I want to read that book as well.

Have a great time at your conference.

I need to read his books...wish I would've seen that. Don't think I'd be into the Alicia Silverstone one, but Pollan has some awesome ideas. My trainer just recommended "Good Calories, Bad Calories" which I'm getting from the library to start this weekend. He also recommended watching Food Inc...will probably scare me!
