The Sound of Silence

You know your a teacher when...

.....you know a major storm is coming without watching a weather report... -or-
...you can tell it’s a full moon without ever looking outside.
These two go hand in hand. Some people may think this is crazy, but when you have more than 5 students together at one time and things are quite different among them all, you know the weather is changing. Barometer dropping, storm coming, full moon, you name it.

.....you believe that unspeakable evil will befall you if anyone says,“Boy, the kids sure are mellow today.”
Need I say more?

Today was a good day at work. They were so good and quiet. Makes me wonder. We are looking at a "winter storm" possibly coming through within the next 24 hours... switching from upper 50's and rain yesterday and today, to freezing temps and 40mph winds.
A part of me really thinks that their behavior is a precursor of the weather to come.
I will keep you posted.

Oh wow, are you hoping for the storm or not? I'm ready for a snow day already, for sure! My kids were crappy today. I wanted to strangle them. End of the quarter and for high schoolers, they are pests and grade mongers!

Familiar feeling! My kids have been SO excited about the election lately. But you are right about a full moon.

I know what you mean, but mostly because my dog acts weird then.

Oh no---that has to be a jinx of some sort... those words "the kids are mellow today" should not be allowed to be spoken on school grounds!

I totally agree. Kids are little barometers.

HAHAHA! That is funny, but I imagine it is true. Going to ask my sister about that, see if it is a teachers vibe...

1 mile walk with the pup sound like a nice XT :-)

ROFL... I guess that's kind of like telling there's an earthquake coming from how the animals are acting. Too funny!!

No! It's much too early for a winter storm!

You have nothing but my admiration and respect for what you do. I don't know how you do it. Keep your shovel and storm gear nearby.

Sounds like teachers should also be weathermen... maybe we can cut back on the inconsistancies.

I totally believe you!!! Kids tune into all kinds of shiz-nit!

It's true - even with the older kids! My students were wild on Monday and super calm Tuesday and Wednesday - and look, we're now in the middle of a snow storm!
