Looking ahead to 2009

2009 is just around the corner and it's time to start thinking about goals and races. Now, I can't lie, as I have been putting together my race list for the past couple of months. As far as goals, I don't know if have any pertaining to the races themselves (just yet), but in other areas here's what I've got:

In regards to overall health and fitness, I would like to be able to find a good balance between work, sleep, and training. Add in proper nutrition and daily vitamins and I should be a happy person!

Even though there are no family or friend weddings on the calendar for 2009, as of right now (in comparison to the 3 I had this past year), I look forward to fun times and travels with friends and family. Nothing is set in stone just yet, but I anticipate a good amount of trips to the twin cities, possibly a trip to the east coast the end of July, and hopefully a trip to Montana to visit a friend of mine... and as time goes on, I am sure many more fun things will come about.

Now that I am settled into my own home and career, I would really like to branch out a bit more with my races. I have so many races and goals in mind for 2009, and I will list them all. However, I would really like to attempt different races and distances, consisting of a half marathon (or 2), sprint and olympic triathlon, duathlon, a 10-miler, and then a couple longer rides (A).

The Year of Distances Across Disciplines:

Now, obviously I am not going to do all these races, but, a girl can dream, right?

Sounds like a great year coming up. you know you're old when all of your friends are married. Then you start going to second weddings for some of them! that really made me feel old the first time.

Don't be afraid to race somewhere other than up north! you know you want to sign up and run the beach 2 battleship half iron like I am. hells, there's 2 folks from the UK and one austrailian signed up for that race. Do it, go ahead and sign up www.beach2battleship.com i dare you!

Look like a great schedule to me! I'll bet you can squeeze in a couple more events...and sleep...and work...and proper nutrition...yeah, it could happen!

I just got used to writing 2008, and now it's changing again! Good think I'm not getting any older. :-o

How funny that as I was reading through your list of races I thought to myself, "She wants to do ALL of these?" Then, I continued to read and you answered my question... you knew exactly what I was thinking! Too funny!

It looks like an awesome year... I secretly have a goal to do more biking and swimming and you're my inspiration! I think it's so cool that you can do all of those things!

That would be one great year if you could make them all.

Haha for a second there I thought you were actually doing all those races---I thought you were INSANE!

Look at all those races! Half Ironman!??!? Dayum!

Looks like you are going to have an eventful year, even if you do a fraction of those. Should be fun.

btw, you can totally do a half iron next year. I also have only completed one sprint tri so far. it was outside, but still, just one. and with the b2b in november in wilmington nc it's going to be in the low 70's (a nice break from your ND november) and you've got a year to train up for it. that's plenty of time. if you are already in decent shape from the b-fit-b-day thing, you'll be fine.

don't rule it out is all i'm suggesting. and decide sooner rather than later, there's only 374 spaces left. it will sell out in a few more weeks.

If you do the Rock n' Roll half in Virginia Beach, I'll be your cheerleader and also treat you to dinner! :) Very fun race!

Keep me posted on whether or not you decide to do VA Beach. I did that two years ago and loved it and am definitely thinking about doing it again.
