I have taken a sick day today with the plan of scratching 3 routine doctor appointments off the list. yay. As for the rest of the day, I hope to not only finish putting up the Christmas decorations, but clean the house, search for a dining room table, and possibly finish up some Christmas shopping. I know, ambitious. But, I have to take advantage of the extra time when I can.
This morning I met a friend at the gym to do some lifting and then bike. I haven't lifted in over a month, and I have been trying to encourage her to incorporate lifting into her workout routine. Sometimes she struggles with the same knee issues I struggled with a year ago, prior to lifting on a regular basis. I have encouraged her to lift, in hopes that it will help diminish her knee issues as the muscles strengthen.
In regards to the Challenge I was trying to come up with for December, I have made my decision. I will be doing the B-fit-B-day Challenge. Now, I just need to decide which level I want to do. My overall goal is to do the Gold, fo sho. This means that within 24 hours I will have to run 8 miles, swim 2000M, and bike 28 miles. The swim and bike is very do-able, but I haven't ran 8 miles since the half marathon training last spring. If I do the Gold, I will run my 8 miles next Monday evening, swim the 2000M Tuesday morning, and then finish off with the 28 mile bike/Spin Tuesday afternoon. If for some reason I can't finish my 8 miles monday night, I will spread this challenge across the 3 days (monday, tuesday, and wednesday) .... going for the Silver.
Today's Workout:
Lift - legs
Bike - 12.67 miles, 35:00, 21.72mph
Today's Song: Taylor Swift - Love Story (I don't know why I like this song so much!)

You're ambitious for a sick day. :-)
Best wishes next week with the challenge. And Happy B-day early!!
That is quite the challenging schedule. go for the gold, baby! awesome!
and there is nothing wrong with liking taylor swift. i've convinced myself of that as a grown man.
What a NEAT-O challenge! I like it! Wish I would have known about it 2 weeks ago! LOL!
Go for the Gold for sure! I would suggest the Platinum, but would that be a 2 mile swim or a 2000 mile swim?? LOL!
Your blurb about the strength training caught my attention. I started battling an ITB issue in my left knee a little more than a month ago. Like you did for your friend, my BFF suggested that I get down and dirty and start strength training. I hadn't touched a set of weights in MONTHS! So far, so good. Preventative medicine is the best medicine. Your friend is lucky to have your guidance.
Nice work at the gym. Enjoy your productive sick day, Teachy.
Enjoy your sick day! You've got one schedule there chica! ;-)
I think you can definitely go for the gold! 8 miles isn't really that far....just a bit further than a 10K.
Good luck getting everything done today. I feel like I could use one of those to get things sorted out at my place!
Taking a day off of work really is a great time to get a lot done. I am actually taking a day in two weeks to have my doctor appointment and get all my last-minute Christmas shopping done...
...and oh yes, go for a long run too. :-)
Good luck getting everything on your to-do list done today! And best of luck with the b-fit b-day challenge!
Way to make a decision. Three doctors appointments, at least they are out of the way.
I think that's a great idea and I hope you can do the Gold!
I love that Taylor Swift song too!
i LOVE that song... i listen to it on many runs :)
good idea on all the dr. appts!! they are so hard to make time for, might as well knock them all out in one day :)
good luck with the challenge!!!
Go for it! I don't see where it says you have to run fast!!
That is an over olymoic distance on your birthday challenge. In the words of some olympic coach(they all have to say it) GO FO THE GOLD! Like Wes said speed is not a requirement.
I hope you get your to do list knocked down today...
I love getting multiple things done on a sick day. Good luck with the challenge!
You're having a super productive sick day! Those are the best kind!!! As for your song of the day, I'm TOTALLY stuck on Taylor Swift's song "White Horse"....I love it...
Go for it! Will be rooting for you!
I know! I don't even like country, but I paid $1 to get this song on my itunes!!
Good luck on the challenge.
Your to do-list is impressive. I hope you got it all done.
Sick days. I have 1 left!
Hope you get to feeling better tomorrow! ;-)
I totally wanted to do the B-Fit challenge this year, but was traveling back from Cali the day before my birthday. You should absolutely do it, though!
