Birthday Ideas

As many of you already know, I will be turning the big 3-0 this year! December 9th to be exact, so mark it on your calendars!

I am not usually one who likes to make a big deal of my own birthday - usually dinner or drinks out with friends is enough for me. But, this year is different. I mean, it's my 30th birthday for cryin-out-loud and believe it or not, I am excited as one can be for turning a year older!

So, with that... there lies a bit of a challenge.

I really want to do something fun and out of the ordinary for my birthday. My sister, friend, and BF are willing to help plan something, it's just deciding what to do. Some of the ideas put out there consist of:

  • A weekend trip to Las Vegas - for those that could make it, but tickets seem kind of pricy right now.

  • A weekend get-away in a cabin somewhere in MN.

  • Rent a party bus here in town and bar hop - not really my thing though

  • Birthday theme party at my house - but what?!

Did you do anything out of the ordinary for your 30th birthday? If so, what? Do you have any wonderful ideas to share?!?! I know some of you out there are very creative and I am looking for all the help I can get!!!

I am more of the cabin in the woods guy. But, Vegas in December would be sweet. If you throw the theme party, go with an AARP theme and have everyone dress up like senior citizens. :)

When I turned thirty I had two toddlers in tow. I didn't do anything memorable. But I like the cabin in the woods idea myself.

I'm not sure if it's the most original thing, but my friends and I had a blast last year bowling for my birthday. We went to a place that did the laser lights and everything. It was low key enough for me, but still tons of fun.

ah...i love that you're turning 30;-) Thirties are where it's at man...and this is coming from someone who is in their last yr of them!;-)

I had a big dinner party for my 30th. I think a trip would be fun too.

Come to the cities and go to an interactive play! Awesome 80s prom was SOOOOO FUN! Dress up in 80s prom attire and party the night away to 80s hairbands! Not sure what'll be around, but that would be tons of fun!!!!

I love the idea of a cabin getaway weekend. That's my style as opposed to going out on a party bus etc. Anything where you can relax and talk/catch up with friends would be fun!

SO FUN! Can't wait to see what you decide... I'm going to Chicago for my 30th ... the Marathon falls on my Birthday! (2012)

30? for me that seems a different era but that's because I'm old. Out of those choices I would do the cabin.

When I was 40, my wife and I spent the weekend in Florida and went to spring training.I still hope to do an ironman to celebrate 50 but that's next year (hopefully).

I love the idea of the weekend getaway. How about gifting yourself a weekend at a spa? You deserve some pampering.

All of those sound like great ideas. How sad is it that I don't remember what I did for my 30th? Must've been a really good time. ;o)

Hubs & I had this conversation the other day and we decided we're doing a trip of some sort - so I vote trip!

I would vote a trip or getting a cabin - go big! You only turn 30 once! :)
