This morning the alarm went off at 430AM and all I wanted to do was roll over and go back to sleep. I had reset my alarm for 530AM without thinking, but quickly realized that I had planned to meet a friend at the pool and going back to bed just wasn't an option. Plus, I haven't been in the pool since August and it was well-overdue.
So I got up, grabbed my bags and was in the pool by ten after five. I did my workout, showered, and realized as I was driving to work this morning why I don't like swimming in the morning: 1. I have to get there right when lap swim opens to get a lane - 5am, and 2. I am done with my workout well before 6am and to work before 7am!
Lap swim in the evening isn't that great of an option either. It doesn't open until 8 or so and leaves me wide awake when I try to get to sleep at my usual time (before 10pm).
Oh well. I got up and got it done and it gives me my evening to complete a few odds and ends: oil change, mow lawn (hopefully the last time before winter), and finish baking for our dessert cook-of tomorrow at work.
Here's the swim workout: 2000 Yds Total
500 Yd w/u
500 Yd swim with paddles and pull bouy
6x50 Yd swim with fins (25 sprint/25 dolphin kick on back)
500 Yd swim with paddles and fins
200 Yd c/d
Tomorrow's workout?! BODYPUMP!!
By the way, I want to thank this dude for trying to persuade me to do the Fargo MARATHON ... why you gotta be like that?!

woman up and do the FULL! :-)
I can barely get my butt going when the alarm goes off at 7:00! 4:30? No thank you!
I wish I could get up in the AM and swim. My body just doesn't like being in the water that early. Good job though!
I have teh same dislike for early morning swimming...have to get up tooo early to get there in time for an open lane and still be to work on time. but i like swimming itself.
I have the same issue with morning swim! I usually just reset the alarm though, kudos on getting your workout in!
Way to go on the swim! Always feel better once it's over right?!
Go for the marathon!!!!
Do the full do the full!!!!!!
P.S. you reminded me I need to get my oil changed too!
I admire anyone who can get up before the sun to swim - thank God I work from home! :)
Do the full... you'd never regret it I promise!
Swimming in the morning is hard. I really didn't enjoy having to get up that early and then rush to work, since my pool opens at 5:30am instead of 5am.
Ha! Best comment ever! I will admit, when I read your posts title yesterday and saw the "FARGO MARATHON" heading, that is what crossed my mind too. ;)
Awesome job getting up for the swim!
I've never even tried to swim early in the morning - I don't think my body would cooperate! Nice work!
That is a tough decision but I remember the times I would get to work early and could get a lot done before the day got started.
It is nice to at least have a friend to meet.
Pretty funny comment!
Wait I'm confused! Are you doing the full or the half? Or have you not decided yet?
And 4:30 a.m.? That's crazy early!
