3 Things Thursday

1. Work - There are only 27 days left of school; less than 5 weeks. That scares me because I still have to hold a handful of meetings and finish a tedious amount of paperwork. Time is running out, people! The kids are still working very hard and haven't shown many signs of spring fever, yet. It's great, but I know it's only a matter of time before they start talking more about summer plans than multiplication arrays, comparing and contrasting information, or what a complete sentence looks like...

2. Earth Day - Everyday should be Earth Day! What are you doing to make a difference? I am trying to make things more green around my house: recycling, using green light bulbs, etc.

"Man must feel the earth to know himself and recognize his values.... God made life simple. It is man who complicates it." ~Charles A. Lindbergh, Reader's Digest, July 1972

"Earth provides enough to satisfy every man's need, but not every man's greed." ~ Mohandas K. Gandhi

3. Training - The past couple of days I was feeling a bit exhausted and know it had more to do with nutrition and sleep than it did with over-doing my workouts. So, after a horrible night's sleep, I decided to skip swim practice this morning. I made the decision at 4am when I was tossing and turning, but struggled to sleep much more after that. Grrr. My schedule called for a swim this morning and a short run this afternoon/evening. When I looked over my schedule from the past week I realized I haven't had a full rest day since a week ago yesterday. I have managed to swim 4100 Yds, bike 45 miles, run 12 miles and go to BodyPump class once within the last 7 days. It's time. I am going to rest today and get back at it tomorrow!

Smart to listen to your body, it will pay off in the long run (you know what I mean).

Mother Earth is very uneasy lately, we take her for granted and I think that she is flexing her patience with us...hang tight, cause if may be a bumby ride.

I fully believe sometimes you just need a rest - you have been doing a lot lately.

Hmm, well today is not a good day for it to be Earth Day for me - I have a long drive ahead of me. However, I will get my coffee in a my travel mug. I am usually pretty good about bringing my own bags to the store and I ALWAYS recycle everything I possibly can.

I'm glad you realize you need a rest day, sometimes it's the hardest thing to see. Enjoy it and relax.

I'm impressed by your kid's lack of spring fever, I certainly have it!
I hate that when you decide to skip a work out and sleep but then you never actually end up sleeping.

Enjoy your day! I saw you were cutting back on sodas in the 3 thing challenge. Me too... I have cut way back but still working on it. Time to chug some water!

My kids totally have spring fever. I do too. I am so ready for school to be over. LM only has 3 more weeks and he only goes a half day on two days one of those weeks. :)

You must have very focused students. My college students have had spring fever since our spring break back in March!

No spring fever??? That's crazy...my kiddos have been off the wall since it started staying lighter, longer!!!
good for you and your rest day. I always love the day after because the workout following a rest day is amazing!

I agree...everyday should be earth day...that is why I did not feel too bad about missing the activities the kids had planned...I figured we could do it any day of the week..month ...or year! I am with you on the exhausted side! I am struggling! Sounds like you are pulling through...way to go...and thanks for the great example! After reading your early morning workout..I decided I could get up tomorrow morning and get it done! =)

Great job on the rest day!~

The light CFL bulbs really do last 5 years (if you are thinking about making the switch). We had our first one blow out last week and it was over 5 years old. We even moved them from one house to the other.

Great decision to take a rest day! I hope that helps you feel better. I think I have about 8 weeks left but the warm weather definitely makes my kiddos a bit crazier!
