Wednesday I swam a good mile. It wasn't anything too impressive, but I swam a consistent mile and it felt great. I probably could have done more, but I was out of time.
I went into school to do some more organizing and rearranging. I didn't have any problem being productive this day. I was there for a near 6 hours and enjoyed it. Things are really starting to come together.
Thursday I biked. I was so pumped for cycle group ride and my friend and I went over there to meet the group and waited. and waited. and waited. No one showed up. It has been weeks since I last joined the group and I can't imagine that they don't meet any more. We still rode, except it was a very slow 17 miles. I need to figure out what happen to the group.
I also looked at a handful of houses today. It has been a few weeks since I last looked and I was super pumped. I found a couple I really liked but one is probably not in the best neighborhood. I have to look into that further. I am really trying to enjoy this house hunting process, but it can be so stressful.
Today I was supposed to run. Actually, I had been looking forward to doing the Virtual 8 miles on 8-08-08. I don't even know if I could do 3 today. For some reason my whole entire back is sore. It doesn't heart, but every muscle is sore. From what? biking? Swimming? pushups? doing my ab routine for the first time in a couple weeks?
But I did do my pushups today. W4D3 .... 105 pushups altogether! I will be moving on to week 5 for sure!
I have heard everyone's lectures on pumping my tires. I guess I knew that I should be checking them before I ride, everytime. I will be doing that from here on out. But, I bought this gauge the other day and I can't figure out for the life of me how to check my pressure without letting out all of the air at the same time. What am I doing wrong? And if it is reading it correctly, my tires are WAY too low. eeks.

I heard on the news that if you keep your bike tires inflated to the proper level, it can save like 100 barrels of oil a day!!!

I'm not sure what to say about the guage. I bought a pump with an attached guage and every time I hook it up I'm sure it must let some air out because it reads 80 psi or so. I figure I must be letting some air out just putting the thing on.

Ditto on getting a floor pump with a built in gauge. My tires are rated to 120psi, so I go just a little bit over that cause I will lose some taking it off. Definitely top off before EVERY ride! Even a day can make a difference, depending on your climate. I've got a sprint tri tomorrow, so I'll be packing up and gathering crap together tonight. Also my 5 year anniversary today, how cool is that??

Looks like that gauge has a little slidey adjustment to accomodate Schraeder valves (the fat ones, like on your car) and Presta (skinny ones, where you unscrew the stopper). Still, it may not be the optimal design for Presta valves.
Depending on your weight (and I won't ask) you should fill your tires to anywhere between about 85 PSI and their max (116-120 usually). I'm about 185-ish during race season, so I go for the max PSI. for someone about 160, I would inflate to 112 or so. There's a chart on the back of Michelin bike tires for reference, but here's some great info from the (late) cycling guru, Sheldon Brown:

I have a floor pump that includes a guage and I check my tires once a week and they are ALWAYS low. So if you haven't been checking and adding air, you're probably too low.

Wow! You're busy as always. You got me into the pushup challenge... Great job on your progress :-) And on the consistent mile swim - not every training has to be spectacular or noteworthy, but I'd say that a strong consistent mile is something to be proud of!
