Longest distance since July 2007

My Training Plan called for 6.5 miles today. I would consider this my longest run since last July when I was out for a 7 mile run and "injured" my right knee, mostly likely from increasing the miles too fast and too soon. I was a little leary and nervous/anxious for this run.

Overall, I tried to keep it at a Run 5-7 minutes/Walk 1 minute. That became more difficult as the distance added up, especially within the last couple of miles. I really had a hard time keeping my heart rate down. If I would have ran any slower, some may have thought I was trying to walk it all. Rediculous! I don't know if this struggle had anything to do with consuming a couple (okay a few) good beverages last night. Hmm.

Oh my god... can I say boring? I have never been that bored before on the treadmill. Blech. I was sick of seeing the same stories over and over on CNN and Fox News. I would have pulled a muscle in my neck or fallen off the treadmill if I would have continued to "try" to watch the basetball game on a tv to the right of my machine. Geez. If I would have waited until this afternoon, I probably could have done it outside, but I like to get it done right away in the morning. So that just wasn't an option today.

ORN: 6.55 miles
1:22:00
12:31 min/miles
Avg HR: 150
Max HR: 180

I can't do it unless I have a decent show to watch. Drives me crazy. Good job getting through it!

Ohhh girl, don't you know? You totally need some celeb trash show to watch or some Maury Paternity Test Results. It makes the time go so fast LOL

Might I suggest you stick to a run 3/walk 1 cycle? Check out Galloways pace chart and see where you are on pace. R3/W1 is good for about 10-11 minute pace. You can do it!!!

As far as your heart burn goes, mine is an issue with my sadly running nose. Make sure you drink lots of fluids. I'm sure the brutal cold in ND is making it hard on ya!!

Way to get it done! No easy task to run that far on a treadmill, but better to get it done, like you said.

The treadmill is a special kind of torture for me, too. Glad you made it through!

Ugh, I hate doing longer distances on the treadmill. In fact, I hate doing any distance on the treadmill! Way to get it finished!

How did you manage that on the treadmill? Good work! Way to stick it out despite the boredom.

Great work on the run! Must feel good to get that under your belt.

Fox and CNN?? Is that all they have on at your gym?

I don't like longer distances on a treadmill, either. I find that I have to stop every couple of miles for water breaks whereas I wouldn't be stopping so frequently if I was outside! I just sweat so much and get so hot - even with fans blowing. It has to be a harder effort just for that alone!

Ugggg... I had to do loads of treadmill training when we were in Japan (extreme heat/humidity). I feel your pain!

Hang in there, spring is coming up asap!

Geesh, I barely survived my 3 on the tm today! I don't know how you could double that! Nice job!

I'm with you on the morning runs. Get up, get out and get it done so it doesn't get put aside from other things, but this time of year I tend toward doing it later...might get up, eat a leisurely breakfast, do some cleaning, and then go when it's warmed up.
