Just thinking out loud...

If you haven't check out my post from yesterday about my 2nd swim practice, you can do so here. Like I said, I have and will be adding all of my swim practice workouts to the sidebar if anyone is interested or looking for a workout to do in the pool!

....The knee issue is still present, barely noticeable but still ... present.

.... it's not so much that I am in pain .... it's just a weird tweak that isn't going away.

..... It's almost as if something is pinching and I can't figure out where or why.

..... Most of the time it's just feels like a dull ache; kind of like a growing pain, maybe?! Not only was I noticing it in my knee, but it felt as if it was running down my leg.

.... However, on occasion, when I would turn or rotate my knee, every once and a while a pinching behind the knee would happen. And that hurt. A cracking noise would follow. (Almost like when a person cracks their nuckles).

.... Tuesday afternoon, while driving, it seemed as if the dull pain was more prominent while in sitting position. I could feel a slight sting in my hip as well.

.... This is when I started to wonder if something was going on with my hip.

Rewind.

.... For the past week or two, I would occasionally feel as if something was pinching in my right hip, but I just couldn't figure out what or how to stretch it properly. I probably only noticed it less than a few times, but I wonder if this has anything to do with my knee.

....on the positive side .... it was much to my benefit that late yesterday afternoon, storm clouds rolled in and not only was volleyball cancelled, but so was the 2 hours of softball to follow. Too bad this was after I already contacted my captains to tell them that I wasn't going to make it... and felt like a goon for bailing. I kinda felt like a quitter.

Fast forward.

.... Today I got in a run/bike/run combo. It's wasn't painful, but it wasn't spectacular either.

.... All of this "so-called-injury" crap is really annoying. It's nothing like the difficulties of the injury I experienced this winter, nor near the pain, but it sure is annoying because I don't know how to make it better.

Holy crap. Until now, I never considered that u & I have the same injury b/c you've always focused on your knee in your posts.

But what you describe is IDENTICAL to what I have- knee and hip, pinching, kind of, worse some days than others, etc.

Michael says it's my ligament or tendon that starts at your hip and goes down your leg, to the outside of your knee... but when this is tight, there's a lot of friction over your knee and can "tear" or wear it down and this is painful. That's why some days it's worse than others b/c some days you're tighter naturally.

The trick is to stretch- do the "L" stretch sitting on a ball. I'm supposed to do this but don't. :)

I hope you figure out what the injury is so you can start trying to address it!

Injuries do suck, especially when you don't know what it is or how to fix it

Hope you find the fix soon! Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

I always get achy legs when I'm sitting. Drives me crazy!

Twinges and tweaks can be so irritating. I hope you figure out a way to make this stop!

A tight hip flexor could definitely be causing the knee pain. There are a lot of tendons that start elsewhere and run around the knee and cause a problem. A good ART guy may be able to help.

Hopefully you get it figured out. Injury stuff sucks. I'm there with my hip still...and just can't seem to get motivated to do anything. I'm considering trying accupuncture and regular massage...almost sounds like your stuff might benefit from something like that as well? Something to consider maybe?

i've had a weird hip thing going on too since the marathon. left hip though, not right. I bet it's a core strength thing.

just noticed the new profile pic too. nice, you're so pretty!

Sorry to hear about the twinge in the knee. That's no good!

Love your new pic!!

knee's, who "knee's them". Check with your Chiro, or Dr. as it could be stemming from your hip, or SIL joint.

Have xrays taken of your knees, it could be your paetella is off track because of over development of the outer Leg Muscles and not enough inner knee muscle. This would pull your knee off track (trust me I know), but with all of your cycling your inner knee should be strong.

Hmmmm, just some suggestions, hope you find out the cause of your discomfort soon. Take care...

I totally hear you on the knee issues! Even though I supposedly know what mine is (after being diagnosed in 10 seconds), nothing they are telling me to do is helping- so its really annoying! I hope you figure it out!!!
I have a question about your swim workouts. When you say "kick" does that mean you just hold your arms out in front and kick? If so, how do you breathe? I tried to do this but I was taking a stroke everytime I had to breathe, which is way too often haha. I could be doing something wrong, or maybe I just need to work on breathing less frequently!
