Yesterday, the plan for my afternoon workout went as follows: run, BodyPump, run , and then head home to do my TriPower routine.
I had enough time before BodyPump to run a mile, and for some reason had enough gas in me to run 2.1 miles after BodyPump. It's probably been 2 weeks since I was last at BP and after all that squating, I didn't think I would have anything left in me for running, but I did.
When I got home, I proceeded to dive into my Monday TriPower routine. I haven't been following this much at all for the past 9 months (gasp) and miss it dearly. Today's workout took me about 20-30 minutes (and I can do it all while watching tv!) and consisted of: upper, mid/lower, hip/lower body stretches, about 5 core workout routines, and then foam rolling. Ahhh. It was perfect!
Then, this morning, swim team started up again after a week break. The break was definitely needed, but I was ready to get back into the pool. I finished 2000Yds later and felt like I could have done another 1000. I was feeling strong and happy! However, my legs and glutes are starting to feel sore... it's definitely a good sore, though!
On my way to work I decided to treat myself to Starbucks. Actually, I had a $5 giftcard from a co-worker and to top things off, they were giving out a free baked good! I walked out with one amazing coffee drink and a blueberry scone! I do love my Caribou Coffee, but I can't get over the wonderful service (politeness, mostly) at Starbucks!
I hope the rest of the day goes just as well! Have a great day!

Weekend in MPLS and the week to come...
This weekend went by super fast, but was fun and relaxing. I left work a half hour early Friday to get on the roads. With a 3.5 hour drive from Fargo to the Twin Cities, I wanted to get as much of it done before the sun set and the temps dropped, and avoiding the chance slippery roads.
Friday night was pretty low key with drinks, conversation, and games at a friend's house. Saturday night we were celebrating a friend's birthday and started the night out with dinner at PF Chang's. Did you know they have the bet chocolate cake dessert there that you can get in a 2 oz. shot glass? Perfect size for an after dinner sweet tooth!
The evening was a lot of fun!
Sunday:
Long Run
I usually like to do my long runs on Saturday, but I had to shift BP to Friday and didn't want to do that the day after. And, I am going to start my week off with REST day. It kind of feels like cheating, like I haven't earned that rest day yet, but with how hard it is for me to get up in the morning to workout on Monday's (and the fact that I have a hair appointment in the evening) this was my best option! Who knows, I might really like this schedule!
Anything crazy/fun/exciting in your schedule this week? Tomorrow the kiddos don't have school but we have a staff development day. In fact, I am helping in facilatating the morning session... ahh the joys. Also, I am getting a long-over-due haircut and color tomorrow evening. I am finding more and more gray hairs and not liking it at all! yuck.

After that, we headed to Downtown MPLS for some fun! We actually had a nice booth/dance area blocked off for us at the bar with "bottle service". With our bottle service we paid for the bottles of liquor (Absolut Citron, Grey Goose, Captain Morgan, and Maker's Mark Whiskey) and they gave us all the mixings we wanted, and we made our own drinks! Can you guess what I drank?
Me... sis.. and birthday girl...
The evening was a lot of fun!
Anyway....
This past week's workouts were good, but not at all like the schedule I had planned or in the order I would have liked. Oh well, at least I was still movin'. fI still didn't get to the pool at all this past week.
A few days ago I posted a workout schedule that I would like to try, but I find myself tweaking it already for this coming week due to some other evening commitments. So, here's the plan for this week:

Getting caught up
The overwhelming feeling of work and life in general has been decreased immensely. I have bulleted the things that have been consuming my life for the past few weeks....
Work:
Work:
- I have completed my last student re-evaluation, had the meeting today, and only have to make a few adjustments to the report and update the IEP.
- I have one IEP meeting left for the year, tomorrow, and have about 90% of the paperwork done.
- Sorry, special education yap yap.
- Midterm grades are due to teachers by Friday and I have mine done and will be sending them off tomorrow. booyah!
Home:
- My mailbox that was hit in December by a furniture delivery truck has been re-installed. It spent most of the winter propped up in a snowbank. However the past couple weeks it has been lying on it's ass in my boulevard, and I haven't been receiving my mail because of it.
- One of the twirlybirds from my roof was found in a snowbank a few weeks ago and finally replaced. I guess that is what was causing all that noise the week of the flood here... I am sure some of you remember me complaining about a rackety noise coming from my roof...
- And, the latch on my gate in my backyard has been fixed. It was loose and I had to use a bungy-cord thingy to keep the wind from ripping the door off.
- All house-hold repairs/fix were done in one day by a very nice friend of a friend. I owe him big time!
- And... I finally set up my wireless printer/scanner/copier! LOVE it!
To top things off, I was able to get in a nice workout this evening. Ahh... it felt so good!
Despite all the craziness going on around me, as I look back on April thus far, things have been going pretty darn well! I have been able to get in a workout everyday this month except for 2. I have only missed 3 days of Jillian's 30-day Shred. There are only 2 complete REST days in my calendar thus far. My minimal daily workout has been just Jillian, but most days I have done Jillian with running, biking, and/or swimming. I hope to push a little harder the rest of April now that I have a bit ... more ... time.... !
Now it's AI time.. .and a little time to catch up on some blogs!Friday, April 3, 2009
Girls weekend with a Concert!
Here's a quick recap of my workouts this week. It sure feels good to be getting back to a routine after the past couple of weeks!
Monday:
The only workout I did was 2 hours of shoveling 17 inches of heavy snow. That was enough for this chica.
Tuesday:
I ran 3.1 miles on the treadmill. My knee was fine, but started feeling a little tight about 2.75 miles in.
Wednesday:
I hit up the pool for a 1 mile swim while I was still in Bismarck. It felt good to get back in, since it had been about 2 weeks since my last swim. I started Jillian's 30-day shred over again with day 1 today.
Thursday:
After completing day 2 of Jillian's 30-Day shred, I popped in a trainer dvd and went away on the bike for approximately 50 minutes. Afterwards, I did a about 25 minutes of pilates and threw out a few cuss words while getting to know the foam roller.... youch. Reminder... check back early next week for a product review!
Today:
I woke this morning at 445am, trying to get back into an early morning routine. I was suprsed to feel rested and ready for a good workout. I did Day 3 of the shred, had a bowl of cheerios and 1/2 a banana and then hit up the gym. I ran 2.5 miles (with sprints at 7.5mph) and then jumped in the pool for 1000M. I used to do this a lot in the evenings last school year, but it got to be so late since the pool was only open for lap swim in the evening from 8-10pm. This workout felt great overall but I was pretty worn-out when I finished the swim. The knee felt good through the entire run. I am hoping that my newly found friendship with the foam roaller is going to make a difference!
I have done pretty well with eating better and cutting back on the high calorie coffees for the past few days. I truly do love my Dunkin' Donuts coffee with splenda and sugar free creamer, so this transition won't be too big of a deal for me. I have been able to get about 8-8.5 hours of sleep each night. I am sure this has a lot to do with not working at all this past week and no schedule. I hope to be able to continue this once school starts back up again next week.
Well, I am signing off for the weekend. I will be spending the weekend in the cities with my sisters and mom. We've got big plans for this evening... Britney Spears babay!!!! I know you all are soo jealous! This is part of my youngest sisters Christmas gift! I am so pumped! It's been so long since I have been to a concert!
If you could go to any concert, which one would you choose? Another one that I would really like to go is Coldplay!
