Enjoying the weather

Last night I played the "I am 21" card again. Actually it wasn't as bad as it sounds. We hit up happy hour at our regular bar after school and the dang place was like a time warp. Only had a few drinks in 7 hours, lots of water, and a few free shots. I didn't end up getting home until close to midnight. I left there with a bar tab of $5.60. Gotta love being a regular!

After sleeping in much later than usual this morning, I finally crawled my ass out of bed to try and make the most of the day. I did some cleaning, waiting for it to get a bit warmer this afternoon and just returned from a slow 3-miler.
It was 52 degrees, calm and sunny. I wore my knee sleeve and it seemed to help a little. I can say the run overall was better than my last run, but it wasn't perfect. Once again, about 2 miles in the knee started to get tight on the outside and I did a lot of walking in that last mile. The knee wasn't as stiff as it usually gets after an outdoor run. I popped a few ibruprofens, iced, stretched, and rolled around on the floor with the foam roaller. Ouch.

I think I am going to lay low for the rest of the day. Two nights in a row of being out late and drinking isn't good for me... especially when one of them was a work night. By the way, Deuling Pianos was awesome and if you ever get the chance to see a show, do it!
I hope everyone is having a great weekend!

I'd get laughed out of the bar if I tried to play the "I am 21" card...hahaha...

Sounds like fun. Glad the knee felt better during the run! That's a good sign.

Here is what my physio therapist is having me do right now.

a)lean against a wall with your feet 1 1/2 feet from the wall, shoulder width apart with a ball between your knees, and squat down hold for 5 second repeat 10 times.

b) same thing only remove ball tie elastic band above knee cap repeat as above,

c) stand on one foot, eyes open, then eyes closed, repeat with other leg

d) lying on your side, pillow between your thighs, raise top leg rotating it slightly outward, raise and hold repeat 10 - 15 times 2x per day...this is a start....

I'll let you know what other torture she devises for me this week....LOL

Well, if your knee is merely "tight" it just may be getting used to the impact that the new mileage is demanding. You might try running through that feeling. However, if the feeling is painful, then you should stop and walk for sure.

Chad has had knee pain in the past that has taken him out of running - but the pain has actually stemmed from his quad and I also believe it was weak muscles. Do you do any strength training (with weights)?

Hope the knee is feeling a bit better! I played the "I am 21" card last night, now maybe it'll stay put for a week or two again.

We all need a few off days from training and a chance to kick back with friends. It helps to keep us sane!!
