Clarification & Television Shows

I have to clarify my chose of words for yesterday's post. It was not just a "snow day" but more of a blizzard or storm day. Agreeing with what Leana said about Calgary - if we were to get out of school every time it snowed, we would have more days off then on between the months of October and April!

Here's what led up to this wonderful storm day, using the word wonderful lightly:

  • Friday night we got about a 1/2 inch of rain. It was surreal to be driving home from the bar at 9pm in downpour, on January 22. weird.
  • Saturday the rain from the night before and new fallen snow mixture left roads very slushy.
  • Sunday evening the temps were cold enough to start freezing that slushy crap and the winds started picking up - throwing around a bit of new fallen snow.
  • Monday morning the temps had really dropped and the slushy crap was frozen and covered by snow. The wind was pretty nasty - gusting to 50mph. I guess visability was so bad that when sitting at a red light you couldn't see the car on the other side of the intersection unless their lights were on.

And this morning, school and buses are running 2 hours late for some reason that I haven't figured out yet. But, I decided to use a sick day today to get one more day of rest in before heading back to work. This Strep Throat business totally knocked me off my feet but I am feeling so much better.

Anyone following The Biggest Loser? I am looking forward to seeing the drama tonight. That girl from the red team is totally rubbing me the wrong way and I can't wait to see her get the boot, in addition to a mouthful from Jillian. Buwahahaha!

How about American Idol? I love that show but it conflicts with the BL. I am thinking I need to really contact my cable company and get my HD rollin' as well as my DVR machine! I have had this tv for almost 2 months but haven't taken care of that... trying to save a bit of money..

What kind of tv shows do you watch? I like to catch the above shows when I can, in addition to 24, Private Practice, and Grey's Anatomy when possible. Other than these shows, I usually have some sort of game on which I am sure many of you readers out there already know.

Make sure to check out Marlene's Lift Your Sole Giveaway today over at Mission to a(nother) marathon!

I watch Bones!

ya, I really hate that BL is on the same time as American Idol...

I have not watched any of those shows in forever! It is hard though because the students watch it and talk about American Idol all of the time. My husband and I watch a lot of movies!

I gave up tv a few years ago when I was in grad school and have only added a few shows back to my schedule after graduation...I have to watch LOST and So You Think You Can Dance - no exceptions. Other shows I try to catch when I can - Biggest Loser, Amazing Race, Big Love and embarrassingly enough - The Hills, The City and The Bachelor. So glad I found your blog!

We had torrential rain yesterday and snow this morning. Crazy winter isn't it?? Remember last year when you (we) were snowed in???

Love the Biggest Loser! I have a night class on Tuesdays and it's a good thing that it gets out at 7:30 because there would be a big problem otherwise!

My TV is usually tuned into sports, but I do watch 24 (everyone knows not to call during 24 because I refuse to answer the phone) and yes, I'm almost ashamed to admit it, but I watch The Bachelor. This season has sucked me in. And if I'm home I try to watch the Biggest Loser. Other than that, TV is mostly background noise.

I haven't watched American Idol in years, not even when Adam from my suburb almost won it. (Or did he? I can't keep up!) I've never watched Biggest Loser either. I did try to get into Grey's Anatomy but I cannot stand any of the main female characters. I know, something's wrong with me!

And lest you judge, I do still watch Project Runway and Survivor as well as the legal thriller Damages.

I watch very little TV outside of sports. I do love Amazing Race and watch Modern Family when I am home. I actually am very against BL so I don't watch.

I agree with you about the girl on the red team. I have to say though she is playing the game to perfection. I don't like her and I wish this show wasn't about the " Game" and just about weight loss, but it's t.v. and people need motivation. She doesn't have a lot of weight to lose and her doing this is the best thing for her right now. It may not work in the end. People will kick her off as soon as she falls below the line.

I watch TBL but I hate to love it because of all the cheesey ads during the show! Plus the girl on the red team is so playing this show and it makes me angry because in past years, the competition hasnt really been "real" until there are like 5 contestants left! Its about losing weight and getting healthy not winning!

That sounds like some crazy weather. Hope you feel better after another day off today.

I also watch Biggest Loser (totally share your feeling on that biatch!), Greys, PP and 24! Oh, and Lost, which starts next month for its final season!

Thanks for the giveaway shout-out!

I'm over AI, but I do love me some BL and some Bachelor! I bet you that red lady is going to drop about 20 lbs this week after the hijinks she's pulled these last two weeks. I wish the show really focused more on weight loss instead of competition. I think that no one should be booted off for the first few weeks just so they can stick around and learn as much as possible.

Oh man I'm so pumped to see the blow up with Jillian tonight. Seriously it could be epic!

I don't watch any of those shows. In general, I don't like reality TV unless it's Top Chef or Project Runway. And, in general, I'm not a fan of tv drama. So, basically I watch a few sitcoms and that's it.

I am a Biggest Loser and 24 fan myself. I thought last night's episode of 24 was a little slow. I am having a tough time getting into the story line this season for some reason. It seems a little unoriginal.

I absolutely love the MJ quote at the top of your blog! Enjoy your snow day!

I'm a big fan of BL too. And 24! We also watch Dexter, Castle, Criminal Minds, Law & Order SVU, How I Met Your Mother, Big Bang Theory...

Yeah, I'm sure there's more. See why one of my resolutions is to watch less TV?

I know what you mean about Idol conflicted with Biggest Loser. I rarely watch Biggest Loser as a result. Boo.

I'm watching BL right now. I'm just not as into it this season though.

Its funny how in some areas just a little bit of snow (or frost!) causes a panic and canceled school!

One show I love is Damages. But get the DVDs and watch from season 1. I didn't expect to like it, but I love it. And I am thrilled LOST is back next week.

I have never lived in a "snow" place. We went to New Mexico over Christmas break and it snowed while we were there...it was so beautiful, but I could see how the snow becomes dangerous, especially when it turns to ice and you have little ones.

I watch all the shows you watch, except Biggest Loser. I also like watching shows like Dateline and 24 hours, when it involves a real life mystery.

Oooh, I have BL DVR'd from last night but I can't wait! Hope there was good drama. I don't really have a favorite with this group yet. I feel like I still need time to get to know them.
