plans, plans, plans....

My plan was to wake up early this morning, attempt a couple miles, head to the school (location of my new job) to introduce myself to the secretary and take a walk around, fill my kitchen with groceries, return the lounging chair I bought from Target (because it was broke), buy new lounging chair for patio, and finish Harry Potter.

With the idea of getting up at a decent hour to squeeze that run in before it was too hot, it didn't happen. For three reasons. (A) I was up super late, on the phone with a good friend for 1.5 hours, (B) I was reading potter after getting off the phone at 12am, and (3) I was awoken at the butt-crack of dawn by construction workers. You see, I went to bed with the door in my bedroom (that opens to the patio) open, hoping to get fresh/cool air flowin' through the room. So, needless to say, between cuss words and moans of crabby tiredness, I attempted to sleep a little longer... calling off the run. hmmm.

So, I accomplished everything else except for finishing Potter. I have about 100 pages left and I am going to finish that today. Talking to my friend last night, we were discussing the idea of finding a weekend to meet up at his parents lake cabin with some other friends. I hope all works out, but my August is already consumed for the most part. And, he is trying to get me to come down and visit him in IA. When he had gotten this job, I said I would visit him... and gosh darnit, I meant it! But, being a teacher and all (enter sighs and pretend to feel sorry for me) I really don't have any long weekends available until Veteran's Day. Sigh. We'll see. I would really like to get down there, it would be a load of fun.

Tonight, I might find a nerve in me to get out and go for a short run. But, I will make sure I am back for some baseball. Bonds is playing tonight, and I wouldn't mind "possibly" wittnessing him breaking Hank Aaron's record! So with that, if you were there, and caught the ball, would you keep it, sell it, or give it to Bonds?? I ain't gonna lie, I am not the biggest fan of Bonds, but this is a big record to be broken!

What I'd like to do? Catch the ball and throw it back at him, aiming for his head. I'm peeved that he's being allowed to break this record. But the cheapskate in me would think of all the money to be made selling it on e-Bay, so I'm sure that's what I'd do.

Ahh... girl. No worries about missing that run. When I unintentionally stay up late, I sometimes skip my AM run too. I need to be well-rested!

Sometimes the body needs sleep more than it needs to run.

oh, and totally keep the ball and sell it on e-bay.

Sometimes we have to sleep a bit. :>)

Hope you get HP finished! It's sooo good!

Surprised you didn't stay up to 3am finishing HP like everyone else!

Ummm... Not meaning anything by it, but I wouldn't sleep with my patio door open... Nope, not me. And I could personally care less about bonds. And what was that? You have up a run for Harry Potter? Whoa! I'm going to have to ponder that one ;-)

I like your Vince Lombardi quote. I think he also said: "I firmly believe that any man's finest hour, the greatest fulfillment of all that he holds dear, is the moment when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle-victorious."

Sometimes the desire to sleep wins out. As long as it doesn't always win, I say it's OK. :)

How's the new school look? Are you excited about the job? When do you start? OK, I'll shut up - I know, you're still enjoying your summer. ;)

Sell it on ebay!! I'm no fan of Barry either and am not THAT into the sport to fully understand the magnitude of the record that will be broken.

Harry Potter was good.

If I caught it, I'd sell it...make some money on it. I think it's sad that he's been allowed the record, but what do you do. I definitely wouldn't want to keep it.

I keep trying to get up and run, I did so good last year for so much of the spring and summer and this year I've been up to run before work I think once or twice...sad...

I echo everyone's comments about not liking Bonds, however, I would give him the ball. I would love to see it on ebay, but I would do the right thing and give it to him.
