Communication is the key

I left work today as soon as my "contract hours" were up. I wasn't in the mood to stick around, and to be honest, there wasn't anything that needed to be done for tomorrow or for the rest of the week. I felt a headache coming on and it could have been due to some issues arrising at work... having nothing to do with the kids. Lack of communication, not on my part, is hard to deal with, especially in the field of education and special education particularly. I am really good about inquiring about how my students are doing in the classroom and in the resource room, as well taking care of my job as a special education caseload manager. I am an easily-approachable peson who looks out for the best interest of my students and have a real problem when people don't come to me or express their concerns when I ask how a student may be doing in the classroom. I am trying to do my job the best that I can, but I can't do it when the communication is only going in one direction. The day couldn't have ended better ... with a "no show" for a meeting. Supposedly the parent forgot, thus we had to reschedule. Oh well, life will go on... and tomorrow will be a better day.

With that note, I am still extremely sore from helping my sister and her hubby move this weekend. My left calf is tighter than tight, my hip flexors are sore, and my butt feels like it went through a meat grinder. Lovely. I am not worried about Octapolluza today... today is a rest day. Done and done.

I am going to chill this evening, look over a few different kinds of training schedules, and hope to map out a 15 week training schedule to follow starting next week. ... with the idea of doing Tri-U-Mah in February! Don't worry IronGambit... I plan on doing Danskin, I just need to figure out when and where... .. ...hence the question marks on my race schedule on the sidebar!

Teachers work so hard both in and out of the classroom -- you deserve to just head home at the end of the day. You probably needed the time away.

Yes, I agree with Jess! You did deserve to head home and relax!!

To answer your question, I was shooting for 1 min/50 meters. That is what I was swimming at my practices and then I was hoping to speed up in the last 1/4.

Enjoy your rest day, it sounds like you deserve it!

And Danskin? I'm considering the Chicagoland version. It's been something I've toyed with doing for several years, I just haven't gotten around to doing it. Keep us updated on what you decide!

Communication is the root of most problems. You deserve a nice evening doing whatever you want!

Looks like you all had a very busy weekend. Moving can be stressful and tiring, but adding painting, and house work on top of all that! You deserve a week of relaxation!

I'm right there with you. You can only do the best that you can do. You cannot force others to be good communicators, but you can continue to be open and honest and encourage others to talk about the kids. Take small steps on a daily basis and before you know it things will change.

Enjoy the rest, you deserve it. :)

Persistence comes right after communications, in a good way :-) Don't give up trying! The world needs young guns like you!!

15 week plan, hmmmm. Is it a sprint? Most spring plans are 6 or 9 weeks, but 15 is good too :-) LOL...

Ah, love the meeting no shows don't you? How can you forget when it's something as important as your child?

Getting a plan in place is a good thing. I need to start working on the one I have slightly together, especially now that I have a gym to use...need to incorporate that into the plan.

You teachers deserve WAY more credit than you receive. Keep up the great work :) Hope you have a nice evening.

I feel your pain! I'm also a special education teacher; I support my students in the full inclusion setting and some days I just want to pull my hair out from trying to communicate with general education teachers, therapists, parents, kids, etc, etc. Hope you're at home relaxing right now!
