I have a MacBookP...Sorry to hear about your laptop! I have a MacBookPro and haven't had problems so far, but for other Mac products, their support crew in local outlets have been great. Most times Macs seem to act to protect themselves by shutting down or going into a type of safe-mode. Could that be it? Viruses on a Mac are so rare though.... Our old iMac (one of those ...Oh, no...poor 'puter. Our old iMac (one of those white flatscreen G4s that looks kind of like half a basketball with a sideview mirror off the top) kinda gave up the ghost in a similar fashion. After installing some cheap kids' software it was never the same. We uninstalled all traces of the software, uninstalled and re-installed the OS...never could get it to work right again. OS X crashes at random, especially when adjusting the volume or ejecting a disc. Online I found some references to a bad keyboard causing such issues, so we even replaced the keyboard, but that made no difference.<BR/><BR/>By the time all this happened it was no longer our primary computer, but it still stinks. It would be a perfect computer for our son (7) to use, otherwise.<BR/><BR/>Hope you find a solution.
